30 Day Maid Cafe Challenge - Day 12

What is your favorite song performed/from a Maid Cafe? Post videos of your favorite performance or even yourself performing the dance!

My favorite is Renai Circulation! The music is so catchy and the dance looks like so much fun. My favorite video is of Aikawa Kozue. It's hard not to like everything she does, though. She is so talented, beautiful, and she just really shines when she dances.

What I would really like to do in a Maid Cafe is this...

It's a shame that I am really lousy at dancing and will probably not master either of these. I should probably just stick with Mune Mune Kyun, haha!

30 Day Maid Cafe Challenge - Day 11

What is your favorite "moe" trait about a maid? Do you like ones with glasses? Tsundere? Or maybe the lace of their petticoat? (If you are a maid, what is your "moe" trait that sets you apart in the cafe you serve?)

What I adore the most are the uniforms. I love the dresses with petticoats, and a really cute ruffly apron. Is an eagerness to serve considered a moe trait? Because I find that admirable. Ah, and spacing out and getting easily distracted, especially by really cute things.

I hate to admit it, but I am a living tsundere and it is not very fun. If you've met me you may not believe it because I'm usually very nice to people that I don't know at all, but it's around my family where the tsundere side of me comes out. It just causes a lot of stress on both sides. This is part of why I want so much to become a maid, because if I can make a cute happiness to serve others a regular trait in myself, maybe I can be that at home for my family.

I do have one moe trait that I do like about myself. I actually didn't like it and would get annoyed with it until my chiropractor was able to fix it, and feeling like I had lost part of myself I demanded he put it back (okay, not really, but I have noticed it's come back and I won't tell him so he won't fix it again). My moe trait is that I often get the hiccups, especially when I'm anxious or nervous about something. I also scare people when I'm cooking and make big messes.

30 Day Maid Cafe Challenge - Day 10

Have you ever been to a convention Maid Cafe? Which Cafes were they and what can you tell us about your experience?

I haven't had the opportunity to visit a Maid Cafe at a convention yet, although I hope to before officially becoming a Maid myself. I'd really like to experience how it feels to be treated as an "Ojou-sama", because I think that would help me to understand better how to give our guests the best experience possible.

30 Day Maid Cafe Challenge - Day 9

If you had your own personal Maid Cafe what would you call it and what would be the unique point of it that was just for you?

I already know for certain my cafe would be called "LessThanThree (<3) Cafe". It would be more intellectually based. For games we would play games such as Chess and Backgammon. Maybe there could also be a service where the maids would read to the customers. On occasion maybe a Maid can perform a special musical number on the piano, violin, or even vocally. Of course we would also have theme days as well, such as Moe Monday where we amp up the cuteness and play children's games, or Wonderland Wednesday with colorful Lolita dresses and brightly decorated desserts.

It's an unrealistic dream, though. I understand why Maid Cafes stick with the children's games instead of something like Chess. Children's games require very little instruction, if not altogether self explanatory, and can be played very quickly. Chess is complex and requires a lot of mental work, consuming time that just isn't available in a cafe setting.

30 Day Maid Cafe Challenge - Day 8

Who is your favorite fictional maid and what anime/manga/book/tv show is he/she from? What do you like about him/her?

Hmm... This is tough because I don't like very many maid anime, they're all too pervy. I haven't watched very much of Kaichou wa Maid-sama! yet, but it seems the best so far. I would have to say Misaki is my favorite, because she is so hardworking and doesn't go overboard with moe. She does everything for everyone and asks very little in return, and that is a lot to admire. That is the sort of person I'd like to be, except I'm so dang lazy and self-centered.

30 Day Maid Cafe Challenge - Day 7

What would you have a maid draw on your meal? If you are a maid, what would be your signature food art?

I have so many things I'd like to see drawn on my food. Totoro or a frog would be really cute, but maybe too difficult? I'd like my signature art to be a seashell, but that's not very cute. Maybe a snail!

30 Day Maid Cafe Challenge - Day 6

What is your favorite menu item in a Maid Cafe? If you have eaten at a cafe, which one made it the best? If not, which one do you want to try it at?

Panda Pancakes! They are so cute and, what's that, chocolate ice cream on my pancakes? Yes, please! I haven't had them at a cafe yet, but make them at home. I don't care where I get to try them at, I just want pancakes.

30 Day Maid Cafe Challenge - Day 5

What would your personal love spell for food be?

First you move your hands like waves and say "Za~Zaan~"
Then you make half a heart shape with your left hand, with your middle, ring, and pinky extended, and say "Kai"
Do the same thing with your right hand and put them together to complete the heart and say "Kaku"
Push the heart in the direction of the food and say "Kyun!"

30 Day Maid Cafe Challenge - Day 4

Design or post a photo of your favorite maid uniform

I started by basing my design off of At Your Service Cafe's uniform, because I hope I'll get the opportunity to work there. That design is the one on the far right. Then I changed a few things for if I ever ran a Maid Cafe myself, or was given some liberty with my uniform design. I've never seen anyone use grey as the basic dress color, so I wanted to see how that would look, which is the one on the far left.

The design in the center is my favorite. The dress color would be a very dark brown almost black, like espresso. It will be sleeveless, with a white blouse underneath with ruffled cap sleeves and collar. The apron would be cream, and the heart on the front will be a pocket.

Aquamarine is my favorite color, so naturally I had to add a touch of it to the design. Because I'm in love with the sea, I also added some seashell ornaments to the headband and choker. I probably wouldn't actually use a seashell that large on the headband, I imagine it would make it very irritating to wear!

30 Day Maid Cafe Challenge - Day 3

Which Maid is your favorite? Which cafe does she work in? What do you like about her?

I'm not positive what her name is, but I believe she is Hinata from Maidreamin. I wish I could find out for sure, and I'd love to see more of her work. All I know is that I adore her voice! She is seen from 0:45 - 1:15 of this YouTube video.

30 Day Maid Cafe Challenge - Day 2

Which Japanese Maid Cafe is your favorite? Have you visited it before?

I have a hard time picking favorites of something I haven't personally experienced. If I had the opportunity to go to Japan and visit any maid cafe I choose, I think it would be Maidreamin, does that count? Their various locations all seem so unique and out of this world, so I think theirs would be the most unforgettable experience.

30 Day Maid Cafe Challenge - Day 1

Maid Trinku of At Your Service Maid Cafe created a 30 Day Maid Cafe Challenge you can reach by clicking the picture above. What better way for me to get more familiar with maid cafes and share a little about myself? Here goes!

How did you find out about the world of maid cafes/what was your first maid cafe experience?

I first found out about maid cafes from K-On! but that was very brief and I didn't really get into them until I saw At Your Service Cafe performing at Ani-Mayhem 2012. I loved the uniforms and the dances, and that's when I knew I just had to become a maid. I haven't been to a maid cafe, but maybe I'll get the chance before becoming a maid so I can see how it is and understand better how the Masters and Mistresses feel.

Okaerinasaimase, Goshujin-sama, Ojou-sama~

Welcome, Master and Mistress! I am Shelsea and I will be serving you.

Okay, I'm not officially a maid yet, but I really want to be. Until I reach that dream, I will be preparing every day so I can be my very best. I will be recording my progress and sharing my thoughts, hopes, and dreams here. Please enjoy watching my journey towards becoming a maid, and hopefully I will get to serve you someday soon.
